APMA Educational Foundation Message from the Foundation President Together We Can Meet Our Goal The 2012 APMA Educational Foundation’s Annual Giving Campaign got off to a great start in March at the House of Delegates meeting. For the sixth year in a row, corporate partner CrocsRx set the tone for giving by offering a matching grant of $25,000. Our delegates and state components responded by pledging an incredible $59,000 in donations. In addition to the $40,000 collected prior to the HOD meeting, the generosity of CrocsRx and our delegates and components brings us to a whopping $124,000 for the 2012 campaign—well on our way to our $200,000 goal! Podiatric medical student Brianna David from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science was at the meeting to remind delegates of the significant impact of their donations for students. She thanked the House of Delegates for demonstrating its passion for the future of the profession. Although we are off to a great start, we won’t be able to meet our goal without your support. As always, 100 percent of every donation will go toward 2012 student scholarship awards. Included in this APMA News edition is a campaign donor brochure with a reply envelope, as well as a donor form for your convenience in mailing or faxing your annual contribution to the foundation in support of our students. As a small token of our appreciation, each donor will receive a donor pin. We hope you will wear this pin at various podiatry meetings across the country to show your support for our students and encourage others to give back. For more information about our past and current donors, I encourage you to read this special section, which includes information about our foundation, a list of memorial and honor contributions made in 2011, and the complete endowment benefactor list. We have the choice to do what we can do, as individuals, to advance the mission of Vision 2015 and achieve parity with our allopathic and osteopathic colleagues. One way for each of us to make a difference is by supporting the APMA Educational Foundation Student Scholarship Program. Scholarships help our colleges of podiatric medicine recruit the best students. It is essential that we educate and train the brightest young minds. When they complete their postgraduate training, these young doctors will be our legacy. They will not only sus20 APMA News May 2012 tain our profession, but they will build it to unimaginable heights. The APMA Educational Foundation is the only national funding resource devoted to podiatric medical students. The foundation awards nearly 200 scholarships annually to qualified students enrolled in our colleges.
