More than 200 people attended the meeting at the National Zoo Panda House and enjoyed an up-close visit with the pandas, elephants, and zookeepers, along with a single malt scotch tasting sponsored by Gramedica. AENS and AAPPM thank Bako Podiatric Pathology Services for its sponsorship of this event. Also, $800 was raised for a resident scholarship fund in honor of Dr. Caporusso and his past work on starting a medical mission program to Mexico in 1999. The mission program is now an annual activity of the Texas Podiatric Medical Foundation (www.txpmf.org). n ACFAOM Raising the Bar in 2012 Each year, the American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics & Medicine (ACFAOM) advocates for its members to help their practices grow. In addition to promoting the importance of orthopedics and medicine as the true cornerstone of today’s podiatric practice, ACFAOM’s goal is to provide the most practical tools available. ACFAOM also sees the impor- tance of strengthening the college by forging new partnerships and increasing membership. ACFAOM made great strides in 2012, bringing more useful resources to your fingertips. This year, ACFAOM added two online resources for its members: the ACFAOM Career Center, provided by JobTarget; and the ACFAOM Human Resource Center, provided by Novation HR. ACFAOM invites its members to visit www. acfaom.org and take these new tools for a spin. One of ACFAOM’s primary initiatives in 2012 has been to help the college grow by bringing even more dedicated and enthusiastic podiatrists together. ACFAOM has seen an impressive number of doctors from all over the country join the organization. The college looks forward to continued growth in the months and years to come. ACFAOM is proud to welcome the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) as its newest partner in membership development. CPMA acts on behalf of its 250-plus members, serving as a resource for legislative and policy changes affecting podiatry, and increasing awareness among Canadians about the importance of foot care. In recent months, ACFAOM has worked with CPMA President Joseph Stern, DPM, and Executive Director Jayne Jeneroux to promote ACFAOM membership to CPMA members. n Fall 2012 CPME Residency Visits: Invitation for Comments about Programs CPME 330, Procedures for the Approval of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residencies, includes provisions for the consideration of third-party comments. The list below identifies all remaining fall 2012 residency site visits scheduled as of September 20, 2012. Third-party comments must address substantive matters relating to the quality of the program and the CPME standards and requirements and should be addressed to the director of the council at CPME, 9312 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD 20814 or by e-mail to artinkleman@apma.org. Comments must be received 30 days prior to the program’s scheduled site visit date. All thirdparty comments must be signed. Comments will be forwarded to the evaluation team, and to the program director for response, if appropriate, during the evaluation visit process.
