would be even more difficult. Because of the types of scholarships
available, throughout my education I have received very little assistance in the form of scholarships. We all know there are fewer scholarships available to podiatry students than in other medical professions.
"The APMA Educational Foundation has done an amazing job at
providing assistance to students, but more can always be done. We need
your contributions. With student debt regularly surpassing a quarter
million dollars, we are drowning in debt when we graduate. Whether or
not you have ever contributed, I ask you to follow Dr. Ollie Foster's advice and not have deep pockets with short arms and give a little more.
"I know you all are asked to give to many things, but think of the
impact you are making on students when you donate to the foundation. You are helping students and their families, and you are investing in the future of this profession. Even a $20 increase from what
you have given before can drastically increase the amounts available.

That's like sacrificing a few drinks from Starbucks or an appetizer at
a dinner!

Help the foundation reach its campaign goal this year to ensure it continues to help our students reduce the financial burden of high tuition costs.
Included in this issue of APMA News is a list of the 2017
Annual Giving Campaign donors. A 2017 Annual Giving Campaign donor brochure with a reply envelope is also enclosed for
your convenience in mailing your contribution to the foundation. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent
allowable by law. Donations can also be made online from our
