of Directors to drive APMA's legislative agenda is a rewarding challenge.
I also served as liaison to the Clinical Practice Advisory
Committee the past three years. The primary responsibilities
of this committee include development of the APMA Registry
and the five podiatry- related recommendations to the ABIM
Foundation [previously the American Board of Internal Medicine] Choosing Wisely Campaign. Additional assignments for
my board tenure include the Membership Committee, Development Committee, and the Governance and Management
Task Force.
Since being elected to the board three years ago, I was
awarded the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science
Alumnus of the Year and Honor Medallion in 2017 and The
International Federation of Podiatrists Humanitarian of the
Year in 2014. I have published several articles and conducted
multiple research projects. I continue to lecture nationally and
internationally. In 2016, I started a second nonprofit organization called Foot Aid.
My wife Erika and I live in Westfield, IN, with our four dogs.
We are almost empty nesters at this point (starting fall of 2018).
We see our children and grandkids often. I am in private practice, with three offices in the Central Indiana area.
Paying it forward to the profession, my colleagues, residents, students, patients, and those in need both at home and
internationally is the foundation of my career. I will continue
to serve humbly and diligently with that premise in mind. n

Candidate for Treasurer

am proud to announce my candidacy for treasurer of our American Podiatric Medical Association. It seems
like only yesterday that I started this
journey and began my service as a trustee
eight years ago.
During that time, I have been privileged to serve and learn
from many podiatrists across the country, including many in
leadership roles.
Difficult and important decisions involving [the APMA
staff] retirement plan, the APMA Registry, legislative changes,
regulatory policies, and insurance reimbursements are just a
few areas I have had to evaluate to maintain the expected level

of services for our members in this era of increased costs and
diminishing sources of income.
The word trustee means a "member of a board given powers of administration of property in trust with a legal obligation
to administer it solely for the purposes specified." My obligation as treasurer will be to oversee every aspect of our association's finances. I will ask for guidance from our Finance Committee, the House of Delegates, our state associations, and our
executive team.
The finances of APMA will be my top priority at all times.
The upcoming bylaws discussions will require much thought
and careful deliberation. I am committed to helping APMA
make the best possible decisions.
I hope you will support my candidacy for treasurer and
will cast your vote for Jeff DeSantis. n

t has been my privilege to serve this
past year as vice president of APMA.
Every time I introduced myself as
such, I was proud to represent such a
great organization. Thank you for the
honor!
It is with humility and enthusiasm that I seek your support
for my candidacy as president-elect.
Having served as one of your trustees for a decade, I have
mentioned many times that I don't take the title of trustee
lightly. It is your trust bestowed in me that has allowed me to
serve and lead.
The understanding and insights that I have gained over
the last 10 years have given me the confidence to ask for your
support and trust via your vote.
The changes that I have witnessed and experienced in my
30 years in practice are truly amazing. The role that APMA has
played and continues to play in shaping our presence in medicine is also truly amazing. You can be proud to be a part of
this organization.
I am happy to report that APMA continues to keep a close
watch on and an active role in our ever-changing professional world.
I look forward to continuing to serve and lead APMA, and
I thank you for this honor. n
