Team FPMA Invites APMA Members to
Participate in Tour de Cure this March

PMA member Robert Iannacone, DPM, wants you to
shovel less and cycle more this March.
Dr. Iannacone, an avid cyclist, has ridden in three
American Diabetes Association (ADA) Tour de Cure cycling
events. The events take place nationwide and directly support
research, education, and advocacy for people living with type
1, type 2, and gestational diabetes.
In 2017, Dr. Iannacone invited fellow Florida Podiatric
Medical Association members to join him on Team FPMA, a
fundraising group designed to support medical charities closely related to podiatry. Nine podiatrists, three spouses, and a
friend took him up on the offer, and they raised more than
$8,000 for the cause. "It was a great way to promote podiatry
and support the ADA," Dr. Iannacone said. "But we also made
it a social event. We held a group dinner and a bike clinic, and
we had a lot of fun."

In 2018, Dr. Iannacone would like members nationwide
to consider trading cold weather gear for biker shorts by joining Team FPMA. The event takes place Sunday, March 25, at
Lake Nona in southeast Orlando, FL. Team FPMA once again
plans to host a group dinner on Saturday evening, as well as
a Sunday morning group event for photos before the ride begins. Participants will receive a free FPMA cycling jersey. See

Team members may choose to ride 10, 25, 50, 63, or 101
miles.
n Bike and Helmet
You may rent a bike and helmet for just $35. Make prior

bikenow.com/reserve, then pick up your bike and helmet
at the event.
n Fundraising Commitment
By registering, you commit to raising at least $200 for the
ADA. "I easily raised much more by placing a sign and a jar
in my waiting room," Dr. Iannacone said. "Patients appreciate your efforts to raise money for a disease that affects them,
their friends, and their families."
n Hotel
Team FPMA has a group room rate of $137 plus tax at the
Courtyard Orlando Airport for Saturday, March 24. Use
group name Team FPMA. Reservations must be made by
March 2.
