Boca Grande Several communities make up the Englewood area, including Englewood, Cape Haze and Placida. Englewood was named a ‘‘Top Ten U.S. Emerging Destination’’ by TripAdvisor. Stump Pass Beach State Park on Manasota Key offers a beautiful beach, and fishing and water recreation are found in scenic Lemon Bay and the Charlotte Harbor Estuary. In addition, the historic fishing village of Placida and the Cape Haze area offer quaint shops and restaurants, and boast great paddling on Blueway Trails. And don’t miss Dearborn Street’s Cruizin’ on Dearborn and Saturday Nite Live the first and second Saturdays of the month, respectively, with live entertainment and shopping at boutiques and galleries. It’s an area famous for tarpon fishing and white sand beaches. Boca Grande is also rich in history as evidenced by the Boca Grande Lighthouse Museum, celebrating the island’s fishing and railroad heritage in a restored two-story lighthouse built around 1890. Tropical blooms decorate the landscape and miles of paved bike trails line the island, with access to scenic beachfront spots along the way. Small shops and restaurants (many with live entertainment) are dotted throughout town. This quiet island community has been a vacation home to former presidents George H.W. and George W.
