Atlantic City Visitors Guide 2007 - (Page 28) Welcome to fun, Atlantic City-style! Our tradition of fascinating amusements and attractions continues to entertain and delight visitors. Do lighthouses turn you on? Atlantic City has the tallest one in New Jersey. The historic structure dates from 1857 and features a museum and gift shop to go with the spectacular view from the top. Want to see ocean life without getting into SCUBA gear? Our aquarium will get you up close and personal with sharks, a turtle, sea horses, jellyfish and a variety of other sea critters. A trip to the shore isn’t complete without a visit to an amusement pier. Atlantic City has rides and arcades, or take a short jaunt south to Ocean City or Wildwood to splash away the day at exciting water parks. There’s even a park where the kids’ favorite Mother Goose stories come alive. And back on the Boardwalk, there’s virtually loads of fun, including a museum dedicated to the bizarre, the challenge of miniature golf and an hourly water/music show. The mascot of Margate, just a few miles south of Atlantic City, is an elephant you can walk through –a six-story pachyderm that’s a national landmark, complete with guided tours. You can also raise a glass to the grape growers at one of southern New Jersey’s historic wineries, complete with tours and tastings. Now that we’ve tired you out, take a break at one of the area’s fine spas. There’s no shortage of pampering in the area, and no shortage of fun.
