You’ll search over a 37 1/2-acre plowed field that is the eroded surface of an ancient, diamond-bearing volcanic pipe— the world’s eighth largest in surface area. And, if you find a diamond it’s yours to keep! Begin your visit at the park visitor center to view diamonds in the rough and experience its Most diamonds found at the Adventure Theater that explains why diamonds Crater are white, brown or yellow. are present here at Arkansas’s diamond site. Following your orientation to the Crater of Diamonds at the park visitor center, you’ll pass through the Diamond Discovery Center on your way to prospect in the diamond search area. Exhibits and interpretive programs here show you how to dig for diamonds and identify rough diamonds as you search. Amethyst, garnet, jasper, agate, and quartz are more treasures you can prospect for in the search area. Digging tools are for rent.
