Where do you start to make the most impact? Five clues in the initial evaluation can guide effective family-centered intervention that considers the whole child. It will provide information to clinicians who are required to feed infants as part of their Birth to Three responsibilities. These intervention strategies target feeding placements similar to placements used in speech sound production. It is recognized that speech and feeding movements have discreet motor plans. Assessment and treatment strategies to increase safety and to provide adequate nutrition and hydration will be discussed. A review of non-oral feeding will be provided.
