Average free-field equivalent sound levels from PMP were 93.2 dBA (SD=9.82 dB) and average weekly use was 20.8 hours (SD=19.1 hours). Average noise dose was estimated to be 2322% per listening session, and 2071% per week. S. Gustafson, Texas Tech University Hth Sciences Ctr, Lubbock, Texas For individuals over 60 years of age, hearing loss is a prevalent health concern. Culture can affect how hearing loss impacts quality of life. The current study sought to determine whether differences exist in perception of impact of hearing loss between Mexican-Americans and Anglo-Americans. This information is important in determining if cultural factors influence an individual’s perception of how hearing loss impacts life, which could be used in the future to assist in therapy goals. 0109 Poster Board 353 TH 9:30AM-10:30AM, Seminar 1 HR, CC/347 Adding Electrophysiological Recordings to the (C) APD Assessment Annette Hurley, Louisiana St U Hlth Scis Ctr, New Orleans, LA; Raymond Hurley, U of South Florida, Tampa, FL Electrophysiological recordings have been recommended as part of a (C)APD assessment. However, many clinicians may be unsure how to implement these recordings into the assessment, or how to use the information from these recordings. This session will review the basic protocols, anatomical generator sites, and interpretation techniques for the ABR, AMLR, ALER, and BioMARK. Case examples from children and adults will illustrate the importance of including these recordings in the (C)APD protocol. Bongiovanni, Phonak Hearing Systems, Warrenville, IL Hearing instrument technology has been moving forward at a fast pace in the past several years, with most manufacturers introducing new products to the market every year. What new features really provide the end user with the greatest benefit? In this session, under the guidance of a moderator from outside the industry, representatives of the major hearing instrument manufacturers will discuss and debate the design and efficacy of specific high-end hearing instrument features. TH 4:00PM-5:00PM, Seminar 1 HR, CC/347 Auditory Training & Talker Variability Nancy Tye-Murray, Washington U Sch of Med, Saint Louis, MO; Elizabeth Mauze, Washington U Sch of Med, Saint Louis, MO; Catherine Schroy, Washington U Sch of Med, Saint Louis, MO Adults who receive hearing aids or other assistive listening devices are often dissatisfied with the limited benefits that they receive. As a result, many hearing aid users seek auditory training to enhance their listening abilities. This presentation will provide background information for an ongoing 3-year project involving a computerized training approach developed to be used with two groups of adult hearing aid users. This unique approach uses both singleand multi-talker stimuli. 0114 Poster Board 354 TH 8:00AM-9:30AM, Poster, CC/Hall G Use of Hearing Protection by Farmers in Washington State Melissa Miller, Eastern Washington U, Spokane, WA; Donald Fuller, Eastern Washington U, Spokane, WA TH 11:00AM-12:00PM, Seminar 1 HR, CC/347 Ototoxic Monitoring: The M.D. Anderson Experience James Hall, U of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Ctr, Houston, TX Monitoring of potentially ototoxic chemotherapies and other potentially ototoxic medications plays a major role in the audiology program at U.T.
