Illustrative examples for intervention will be provided for each dimension. TH 3:30PM-4:30PM, Seminar 1 HR, CC/264 A Win-Win Partnership: Clinical Practice & the Community Marie Kerins, Loyola Coll in Maryland, Baltimore, MD; Erin Stauder, Loyola Coll in Maryland, Baltimore, MD The number of English language learner (ELL) students enrolled in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten increases each year. This seminar will describe the partnership between a university clinic and an urban school with a large percentage of ELL students. It will outline the rationale for this relationship, how to establish such a partnership, the benefits to the school, the benefits to the university, and the relevance to clinical practitioners in other pediatric settings. 1082 Poster Board 102 TH 3:00PM-4:30PM, Poster, CC/Hall G Modified Vocalization During Metronome Entrainment in Adults Who Stutter Jason Davidow, Hofstra U, Hempstead, NY; Anne Bothe, U of Georgia, Athens, GA; Jessica Richardson, U of Georgia, Athens, GA; Richard Andreatta, U of Kentucky, Lexington, KY 1083 Poster Board 103 TH 3:00PM-4:30PM, Poster, CC/Hall G Stuttering Inhibition via Delayed Visual Feedback at Normal & Fast Speech Rates Dan Hudock, East Carolina U, Greenville, NC; Vikram Dayalu, Seton Hall U, South Orange, NJ; Andrew Stuart, East Carolina U, Greenville, NC; Jianliang Zhang, East Carolina U, Greenville, NC; Joseph Kalinowski, East Carolina U, Greenville, NC 1084 Poster Board 104 TH 3:00PM-4:30PM, Poster, CC/Hall G Intensive Stuttering Modification Therapy: Short& Long-term Outcomes Jim Tsiamtsiouris, William Paterson U, Wayne, NJ; Kim Krieger, Eastern Washington U, Spokane, WA TH 11:00AM-12:00PM, Seminar 1 HR, CC/242 Monolingual/Bilingual Spanish Speakers: Performance Differences on Four Spanish Assessments Brian Goldstein, Temple U, Philadelphia, PA; Nancy Castilleja, Pearson, San Antonio, TX; Shannon Wang, Pearson, San Antonio, TX Restrepo and Silverman (2001) recommended that normative data be provided separately for monolingual and bilingual Spanish speakers on standardized Spanish assessments. Studies conducted with the Phonology subtest of the BESA, PLS-4 Spanish, CELF-4 Spanish, and CELF Preschool-2 Spanish were conducted to determine whether performance differences of monolingual and bilingual Spanish speakers require separate normative data. It was expected that scores of monolingual individuals would be significantly different from scores of those who were bilingual. TH 8:00AM-10:00AM, Seminar 2 HR, CC/264 Addressing Appropriate Diagnosis & Educational Disparities for CLD Students Noma Anderson, Florida International U, Miami, FL This session was developed by Special Interest Division 14: Communication Disorders and Sciences in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Populations. CLD students experience overrepresentation in special education and in school dropout demographics. CLD students with disabilities are revealing disturbing dropout percentages. Diagnosis is a subjective process that is often the beginning of the educational disparities dilemma. SLPs must be leaders in culturally appropriate assessment and in the development and implementation of programs early in a student's academic progression to boost academic outcomes for CLD students. 1085 Poster Board 105 TH 3:00PM-4:30PM, Poster, CC/Hall G Help! Suggestions will be provided for finding similar opportunities for speech-language pathologists to work abroad. TH 9:30AM-11:30AM, Seminar 2 HR, CC/343 Norm-Based Comprehensive Assessment of Foreign-Accented Speech Shah Amee, Cleveland St U, Cleveland, OH A recent nationwide survey of graduate programs (Shah, 2005) indicated that over 80% of university clinics reported significant amounts of challenges in serving foreign-accented clients. Difficulties stem from lack of research, norms, materials, and established protocols to plan assessment and treatment. This presentation will report on a large, evidence-based assessment study completed recently. Further, using that normative data-set and protocols, clinicians will learn a structured procedure to conduct systematic and comprehensive assessment of foreign-accented speech.
