Swallowing Disorders SLP Esophageal Swallowing Physiology and Disorders Bonnie Martin-Harris, PhD, CCC-SLP Caryn Easterling, PhD, CCC-SLP, BRS-S This program explores the clinical presentation of esophageal swallowing disorders and how they are evaluated and managed. The CD presents the anatomy and physiology of the esophageal phase of deglutition in adults. Research and clinical practice in esophageal physiology and pathophysiology are reviewed, with emphasis on clinical interpretation and implications. The program demonstrates clinical instrumentation used for diagnosis and management of esophageal disorders and discusses implications for the evaluation, treatment, and management of persons with esophageal dysphagia.
