Bailey, EdD, BRS-S, CCC-SLP Maureen Staskowski, PhD, CCC-SLP Feeding and swallowing problems affect many students in schools. To identify, manage, and assist these students, school staff need systematic procedures and coordinated effort among dysphagia team members. This program presents strategies for developing processes and procedures for school teams with regard to evaluation, problem solving, development and consistent use of feeding plans, and staff education and training. The presenters also describe practical and effective research-based therapeutic and feeding strategies that work in school settings. Treatment strategies that foster improvement in self-feeding, oral-sensory and oral-motor skills, and swallowing are emphasized.
