Ziehl-Abegg Opens Technology Center KÜNZELSAU, Germany—Ziehl-Abegg has opened a new 5000 m2 (54,000 ft2) technology center here that combines advanced air movement and noise testing operations with a laboratory for the development of new products. More than 100 engineers are working in the InVent Technology Centre that officially opened May 30. The company makes fans for ventilation and air conditioning and related control technology. The company also recently added assembly, test and balance operations to its distribution center in Greensboro, N.C. McQuay to Cool Self-Contained Desert City MINNEAPOLIS—McQuay International has received a contract to supply air conditioning for Barawa City, Qatar, a 2.7 million m2 (29 million ft2) commercial and residential development near Doha. The city will be home for 20,000 families and include schools, mosques, a hospital, shopping complexes and parks. The cooling system will serve the entire compound. The HVAC requirement (38,000 tons [133 646 kW] of cooling) for the buildings will be supplied by more than 23,000 fan coil units and 120 air-handling units.
