Led a market transformation through distribution of its Advanced Energy Design Guide series. Since January 2008, more than 124,000 copies of the guides have been put in circulation, representing some $600 million in energy costs savings (based on calculations that if every guide resulted in a single building designed to save 30% beyond code minimum). • Research. Set a record-breaker for raising funds for ASHRAE research, collecting some $2 million in donations. ASHRAE conducts about $8 million in research in any given year. • Greening of ASHRAE Headquarters. Completed work on renovation of ASHRAE’s Headquarters as a LEED® facility, allowing the Society to demonstrate the importance of providing a healthy and productive work environment and showcase HVAC&R technology. The renewal exemplifies ASHRAE’s strong commitment to the same sustainability objectives it hopes all building owners will pursue. • Certification. Launched its third certification program, focused on operation and maintenance, adding to existing programs in high performance building design and health-care facility design. By offering certification, ASHRAE makes its members more valuable to the industry. Certification from ASHRAE adds professional credibility to their work, as well as providing educational resources to better enable them in designing and operating buildings that are more efficient.
