PARAGON – taking comfort modules further
Comfort modules are a further development of chilled beams, also known as air/water air-conditioning systems. PARAGON is a new comfort module which has both compact dimensions and high capacity. PARAGON has been developed to ensure a comfortable, energy-efficient indoor climate and can heat, cool and ventilate. PARAGON is a self-contained unit which treats recirculating room air and mixes it with the primary air supply. Primary air is treated centrally and fed to the PARAGON comfort module via a small system of air ducts, so no fans, motors, filters or drainage systems are required. This is a dry system, with no moving parts, requiring only minimum maintenance and creating a draught-free, comfortable energy-efficient indoor climate with no disruptive noise. The technology used ensures that the unit heats and cools effectively while requiring only low pressure and airflow levels. PARAGON is suitable for airflows of 33-118 CFM and pressures of 0.2-0.8 inWG. Its cooling capacity is up to 6500 Btuh and heating capacity up to 2100 W. With its compact dimensions it fits easily into false ceilings. To control room air, hot or cold water is passed through the heat exchangers in the comfort module, feeding air from the comfort module in a controlled flow at the same time to ensure minimum ventilation rates, quality and

outstanding comfort. Primary air is fed to the unit via a duct connection at the back, building up a positive pressure inside it, so the primary air is distributed, inducing the room air. In the PARAGON model for hotel and hospital rooms, recirculating air is sucked in via a slit on the underside of the unit and passed through the coil, where the air is cooled or heated as required before being mixed with the primary air and returned to the room. The PARAGON Wall model which is designed mainly for offices is fed with primary air to the unit via a duct connection at the back. Recirculating air is sucked in via the same vent through which distribution air is passed in to the room. Distributed air can be distributed both vertically and horizontally, and Swegon’s special ADC system fitted as standard ensures there are absolutely no draughts. So, although air is distributed from the end of the room, PARAGON ensures an excellent, comfortable indoor climate. Among many other project PARAGON has just been installed in the Mercedes Benz Bank in Berlin, Germany.
