MULTI V III: LG’S LATEST VRF SYSTEM WITH SUPREME ENERGY EFFICIENCY
LG’s latest commercial air conditioning system, the Multi V III, has addressed the technical challenges set forth by industry demands: easy installation, cost efficiency, eco-friendliness and, above all, greater energy efficiency. The Multi V III achieves outstanding energy efficiency that outshines its rivals. Measured using a rating system known as the Integrated Energy Efficiency Ratio (IEER), the Multi V III’s IEER comes in at a sharp 21.8, which translates into an additional 14 percent reduction in energy consumption. LG was able to squeeze this extra efficiency out of its VRF system by incorporating a new technology called high pressure oil return (HIPORTM), LG’s unique technology. It is used directly with the system’s inverter compressor, called the V-Scroll. Thanks to such an advanced energy efficiency feature, LG’s Multi V III was certified by the AHRI, whom regulators heavily rely upon for accurate and unbiased evaluation of HVAC products. The V-Scroll inverter compressor is 11 percent more efficient than a conventional air conditioning inverter compressor. It also improves energy efficiency by reducing energy loss from a phenomenon that engineers call slip loss, which is considered normal for most induction motors. The V-Scroll produces lower noise levels (77dBA), and it has an extended operating range of 20Hz to 120Hz, up from 25Hz to 105Hz on previous models. All of this means that even with a large number of air conditioners in use inside a building, the V-Scroll ensures system stability, even in severe weather conditions. Meanwhile, the Multi V III can use longer piping thanks to its inverter control technology and sub-cooling control circuit technology. Longer piping lengths of up to 3,280ft can be installed horizontally and vertically over long distances without elevation factoring as a significant hurdle. In addition to extended piping lengths, the larger capacity per unit as well as free 4-way piping connections, all combine to make the Multi V III easy and convenient to install and operate. Furthermore, the Multi V III’s has a mode called automatic test, which enables the unit to automatically perform a test run and create a test run report. Previously, installers had to switch on all air conditioning units separately to ensure they were working properly. However, with the auto test run, all the installer has to do is press the trial run button and the test will run automatically before being saved. This greatly reduces the time and effort spent by installation engineers. Better still, its “night silent” operation creates a quieter and more comfortable environment. The Multi V III has also received the CarbonFree® certification (ARUN072DT3) from Carbonfund.org for the first time in the HVAC industry, further reflecting LG’s devout commitment to the environment. The Multi V III’s CarbonFree® certification is largely a result of LG’s own lifecycle analysis (LCA) program which pursues reductions in the company’s overall carbon footprint.
