To determine what “conventional means” meant, we gathered information from several other businesses in our area and compared our water use. We then met with our landscaping contractor to develop a strategy for reducing water use through use of drip irrigation systems, replacement of existing plants with more water-efficient plants, and in some cases removal of plants. Overall, we improved water use and burden on the waste system by: Installing 0.5 gpm aerators on lavatory faucets; • • • Replacing spray irrigation with bubblers.
