t e c h n o l o g y N E W & N O T A B L E T he growing importance of energy efficiency and sustainability has given birth to new generations of products and technologies available in the marketplace. A sampling is included here. To have your product considered for a future issue of HPB, send a product description to hpbmagazine@ashrae.org. A B C A Presence Detector The new IR Quattro HD presence detector from Steinel is a passive infrared sensor featuring mechanically scalable square detection zone, which enables coverage zones to be delineated without overlapping or gapping and with no detection in neighboring passageways. Mounted on a ceiling, the Quattro will turn lights on and off automatically in response to occupancy and changes in light levels and features a square design that offers a coverage zone using four digital pyroelectric sensors. HPB.hotims.com/44643-174 B Pendant LED USAI Lighting announces the BeveLED 2.0 LED pendant light. Available in 12 W, 16 W, 24 W, or 33 W, the lamps feature color curve dimming which allows a customizable color palette range between 2200 K and 3500 K, as well as brightness dimming. The 6-inch diameter BeveLED offers a 10° to 80° beam spread, delivering a 10° optic with a center beam candlepower rating of more than 26,000. HPB.hotims.com/44643-180 C Strip Lighting Edge Lighting offers the SS2P Soft Strip lighting for applications such as indoor, under/above cabinet, closet, or work station lighting. Available in 1 foot increments up to 25 feet, these strip lights feature 36 warm-white, 3097 K LEDs per foot with a color rendering index of 80+. Available power supply is a 60 W, 120 V input, 12 V dc output supply that is compatible with electronic lowvoltage dimmers. HPB.hotims.com/44643-184 D E F G D Waterproof LED Drivers Phihong introduces the PDA040 series of waterproof LED drivers for use in residential or commercial applications. The waterproof design and wide operating temperature range add to the versatility. The PDA040 series is Class 2 per UL1310 and compliant with UL8750 and UL60950. Standard features on the drivers include over-voltage protection, over-current protection, short-circuit protection, brownout and brownout recovery. Additionally, the power supplies have a power factor correction greater than 0.9 and a total harmonic distortion of less than 20%. HPB.hotims.com/44643-167 E Colored LEDs Osram Opto Semiconductors announces five new colored LEDs of the Duris P 5 module. The five color versions of are deep blue (450 nm), 68 HigH Performing Buildings fa l l 2 0 1 3 blue (470 nm), true green (528 nm), yellow (590 nm) and red (615 to 625 nm). Based on either the InGaN (Indium Gallium Nitrite) material system or InGaAlP (Indium Gallium Aluminum Phosphite) depending on the wavelength, the 2.6 × 2.2 mm LEDs use low forward voltage to achieve high efficiency of the amount of light produced to power consumed. HPB.hotims.com/44643-182 F ESL Light Bulb Vu1 offers the R30, an electron-stimulated luminescence bulb (ESL). Designed as a mercury-free alternative to compact fluorescent bulbs, the R30 contain no toxic materials and resembles traditional incandescent bulbs. The bulb features fully linear dimming with ordinary household Triac-based dimmers and a color temperature of 3200 K. Fits standard 5 and 6 inch recessed cans and R30/R-40 luminaires. HPB.hotims.com/44643-168 G LED Wall Pack Cooper Lighting offers the Lumark Crosstour MAXX LED Wall pack luminaire series. A patent pending architectural design integrates high output LEDs available in full cutoff and refractive lens models. The series’ reflector technology, optical components and thermal management outputs up to 7,416 lumens. Offered in 3500 K and 5000 K CCT (correlated color temperature), the series is available with optional dimming drivers, occupancy sensors, 90-minute emergency battery backup, and pole mount arm configurations. Applications include pedestrian walkways, building entrances, industrial facilities, perimeter parking areas, storage facilities, and loading docks. HPB.hotims.com/44643-173 H Wireless Lighting Control The Pico wireless remote control from Lutron now features a continuously glowing LED nightlight to make it easy to locate the control and turn on the lights in the dark.
