The energy model indicated that the building would perform 35% better than the baseline code (ASHRAE/ IESNA Standard 90.1-2004) and after two years of operation, the actual performance is 41% better. The most important elements that contribute to the building’s energy efficiency are: • A high performance building envelope; • Properly sized mechanical systems with heat recovery; • Efficient lighting design including daylighting; and • An integrated, open control system to control HVAC, lighting, metering, access, video surveillance and life safety. The control system keeps the building working efficiently and alerts the occupants of problems right away so they can be corrected. Operational analytics identify additional energy saving opportunities. The building envelope includes continuous R-19 insulation on the exterior walls, R-30 insulation on the roof and high performance glazing that contribute to an envelope that is 20% better than ASHRAE/IESNA
