Comfort Tool provides a
user-friendly interface for calculating thermal
comfort parameters and making thermal
comfort predictions using several existing
thermal comfort models. The ASHRAE
Thermal Comfort Tool, Version 2 maintains
consistency with ANSI/ASHRAE Standard
55-2010, Thermal Environmental Conditions
for Human Occupancy.
This new version focuses on the Adaptive and
Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) Models and has
an updated user interface.

The 2013 edition’s
updates include
another increase in the
number of weather
stations’ data in
Chapter 14, Climatic Design Information, as a
result of ASHRAE research project RP-1613.
The chapter now contains temperature and
humidity design conditions and related
information for 6,443 locations in the U.S.,
Canada, and other countries around the
world, an increase of 879 locations from the
2009 version of this chapter. In addition, new
information on monthly precipitation for each
location was added, and the method and
supporting data to calculate solar irradiance
during clear sky conditions were also updated.
Major revisions were also made to Chapter
18, Nonresidential Cooling and Heating
Load Calculations, including new plug load
data and recommendations, an elevation
correction example, an equation summary,
and an entirely new master example
section based on the renovated ASHRAE
Headquarters building.
The volume is published, both as a bound
print volume and in electronic format on a
CD-ROM, in two editions: one using inchpound (I-P) units of measurement, the other
using the International System of Units (SI).
An accompanying CD-ROM contains all the
volume’s chapters in both I-P and SI units.
