H E A LT H & W E L L N E S S Using Your Intuition to Live an I n s p i re d L i f e ARE YOU IN YOUR BODY? By Julie Cusmariu It might seem like you have the obvious answer to this question. Of course you are in your body, right? Who else’s body could you be in other than your own? You can move your limbs, feel your heartbeat, and use your voice to speak. And you are right, these are accurate physical expressions that indicate you are in your body. After all, all human beings on this Earth have a physical body. So what more is there to know about being in your body that might not be so obvious? Is there a possibility you might not be in yours? Well, being in your body certainly means living on this Earth in physical form, there is no doubt about that. But it also means being deeply connected to your life force energy, your emotions, your intuition, and your heart. Being in your body means being grounded and connected to the Earth energy that moves through you and keeps you well anchored to mother Earth and intimately connected to all of life. Being in your body also means feeling alive and living in the present moment with a calm mind. When you are around someone who is grounded and in her body, you just know it. She has a certain sparkle in her eye and radiates a vibrancy and authenticity that is infectious. And it just feels so good to be around her. So, what do you think? Are you in your body? Some common ways of knowing when you are not grounded and in your body are: feeling anxious, feeling unsafe and scared, and feeling scattered and worried. When these feelings occur you are living only in your head and are cut off from the rest of your wise, loving body. On the other hand, when you are grounded, your head and your heart are aligned and working in harmony together. In this state of being, you have access to your intuition and can therefore hear the subtle and powerful messages rising up from within you. Being grounded further awakens your perception and sensitivity to your own self and the world around you, enabling you to navigate more easily and joyfully through life. When you are in your body, you open the doorway to experiencing the joy and pleasure that come with living in physical form while being connected to the spirit in yourself and all things. Intuition Exercise Tips to ground you in your body, relax your mind, and connect you to your life force. 1. Go for a walk or exercise—once you get your body moving, you move out of your head and into your body. A walk around the block for 15 minutes is great. Give it a try; notice how you feel afterwards. Remember to relax your mind as you move. 2. Music and dance—dancing is a fantastic way to get into your body. Start by turning up the music when no one is around and move to the beat. Let yourself go (remember no one is watching!). Let yourself be guided by the music and let your body find its way and natural rhythm. Notice how you feel after you spend time grooving to your favorite tunes. Breathe and notice what you feel. 3. Find a local core energetic therapist (body psychotherapist) or somatic therapist who can help you unlock the emotions stored in your body so you can live more freely and vibrantly in life. Getting support from a health professional in this area can be a truly transformative and life-changing experience. 4. Treat yourself to a massage and/or reflexologyand pay attention to each body part as it is worked on and soothed. You can even massage your own body and feet, offering nourishment and love to each part of you. Breathe and notice These are just a few ways to ground and connect with your body. Bringing your attention to your whole body connects you more profoundly to the wisdom that guides you and provides for you each day. Remember that connecting to your body will open up the portal to your intuition and connect you to what is true for you in each moment. As you give yourself the gift of greater intimacy with your own body you will enrich your everyday experiences, and before you know it others will be asking what your secret is!
