Budget pressures mean it’s more important than ever to keep military aircraft aloft, sometimes beyond their planned service life. NEWSMAKERS Boeing CAS Chief Talks Green & Lean Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, which supports a world fleet of some 12,000 airliners, is executing a host of green and lean initiatives, says vp Lou Mancini. Dubbed Lifecycle Solutions, they include an operational performance module for Airplane Health Management that applies technology used today to find faults to improve fuel efficiency (Qantas is the lead cus–Pages 7-11 tomer), and a new initiative to slash parts delivery times.
