Winners were determined in a total of nine categories, with a tie in “Best Web Seminar Solution” between Citrix GoToMeeting and Cisco WebEx Meeting Center. Finalists were named in four additional categories, but not enough distance between nominees existed to call a clear-cut winner. According to a recent poll conducted by 18 December 2008/January 2009 Elearning! this magazine, 61 percent of respondents indicated that award recognition impacts their decision to consider or purchase from honored vendors. More than half also rely on word-of-mouth and referrals as sources of product information. Votes were cast via Elearning! magazine’s Website. More than 840 nominations were received from end-users and vendors. Voters were limited to one ballot per e-mail address, and vendors ballots were nullified. In no category did one vote decide the outcome.
