Annual Report 2008 - (Page 17) CAMPUSES Campuses are made up of sites, utilities, buildings, roads and paving, terrain and landscapes, structures, and people. Managing facilities, assets, and users likely requires information authored in many systems, by different professions, and over time. Yet effective use of all this information is critical to sustaining the campus. The Bentley digital campus model is an enterprise solution to facilitate design collaboration, support construction delivery, and leverage facility information for operations and maintenance. This federated repository of critical engineering and business information is appropriately available to all business participants and helps enable more informed daily operations as well as more informed planning for future capital improvements. SOLUTIONS IN ACTION: GREATER TORONTO AIRPORT The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) made substantial revitalizations to the Pearson International Airport, which handles more than 1,200 arrivals and departures every day. To maximize efficiency and lower cost during construction — and to facilitate the operation and maintenance of the airport — superior information management was essential. The GTAA’s Technical Data Center (TDC) used Bentley solutions to integrate information into Oracle Spatial, the project’s main data store. As a result, TDC for the first time was able to migrate core data sets to an enterprise-wide GIS — making only superficial changes to the facility maintenance environment. Using centralized data, TDC could deliver easy access to complex project data, work with subcontractors more cost-effectively, and streamline engineering workflows.
