SOLUTIONS IN ACTION: CITY OF MELBOURNE In planning the 2006 Commonwealth Games, AAMHatch created a true orthophoto of the city of Melbourne. An orthophoto provides a perfect plan view by keeping all elements straight up and down, and true to size and scale at all elevations. Using this accurate representation of the area in question, planners could evaluate routes for various Commonwealth Games road events. Now, the city uses the orthophoto to compare cadastral boundaries with built forms for land valuation, manage assets in the city’s Docklands area, and assess major building proposals.
