The Year in Infrastructure 2007 - (Page 3) excellence The BE Awards of Excellence, which are judged by an independent, international panel of industry experts, continue the tradition of honoring the extraordinary projects of Bentley users — projects that set benchmarks and showcase the imagination and technical mastery of the organizations that created them. Among this broad collection of infrastructure additions, replacements, and renovations are airports, bridges, buildings, communications networks, factories, power and process plants, railways, roads, stadiums, utility systems, water treatment and distribution facilities, and much more. Exemplifying technological leadership, this inspiring work has improved the world’s infrastructure as well as the quality of life around the globe. Robust infrastructure benefits people and their communities, sustaining and invigorating the human enterprises and systems that shape and enrich all of our lives — commerce, industry, health, shelter, communications, transportation, government, education, and culture. But creating and improving infrastructure present unique challenges of immense complexity that can slow progress and jeopardize quality. The organizations that created the projects detailed in “The Year in Infrastructure 2007” overcame these challenges and turned their project dreams into dream projects. We thank them for entering these extraordinary projects in this year’s BE Awards of Excellence competition, as well as for igniting the creativity, innovation, and imagination in all of us. We also thank our 2007 BE Awards of Excellence jurors for their diligence in determining the best from among the best. This accomplished panel of Bentley users and industry experts enthusiastically took on the arduous task of deciding which projects submitted by more than 230 organizations epitomize innovation and imagination. Projects were reviewed, finalists determined, and winners announced and celebrated during the 2007 BE Awards of Excellence ceremony in Los Angeles, California.
