The Year in Infrastructure 2007 - (Page 65) Construct Base Entry cyntergy aec The $1.5 million Oklahoma Air National Guard Base Entry project at Tulsa International Airport consisted of a building placement that would give views of 360 degrees with two levels of inspections and intervention. The current AntiTerrorism/Force Protection (ATFP) design criteria and budget for this project forced the designers to create new and innovative uses of space and functionality for this base entry. Traffic flow and accessibility proved to be the foundation for this design. The versatility of MicroStation allowed the designers to reference and modify multiple CAD platforms, which resulted in an efficient and well-coordinated project working environment that reduced costs. Cyntergy’s design has won accolades from the OKANG review team as the most ATFP-compliant facility it has encountered and has been deemed a standard for other bases under its command. Thunderbolt Raceway, New Jersey Motorsports Park paulus, sokolowski, & sartor, llc The New Jersey Motorsports Park will be a multifaceted complex with a 4.01-mile circuit raceway as its focal point. Essentially a motorsports resort, the $40 million first phase will have design features and characteristics similar to those of the legendary Virginia International Raceway. One of the biggest project challenges involved the design of the stormwater management basins, which had to accommodate runoff from roughly 1,450 acres within the 507-acre property without impacting the race track. Bentley’s haestad Methods product line was used extensively to model and design the stormwater management systems. StormCAD helped the team size approximately 16,000 lineal feet of storm pipe, and the design of six infiltration basins was performed using PondPack. The software was able to perform iterations of a multitude of calculations with ease and speed. BE AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE 65
