The Year in Infrastructure 2008 - (Page 20) innovation in cadastre and land development GeoImage Flats and Villas Title Plans Dubai, United Arab Emirates real-estate developers in Dubai have been building thousands of flats and villas in development areas that will house about 3 million people within the next five years. Real-estate developers must submit title plans to Dubai government authorities, and GeoImage has been contracted to produce them. To generate these plans, as-built drawings are processed using MicroStation for extracting flats and villas plans and floor plans as DWG files. Then MicroStation is used to generate DGN-format title plans. One-and-a-half day training is enough to prepare operators for producing drawings to meet customer specifications because MicroStation is user-friendly. Due to the large scale, high complexity, and fast pace of the project, JURONG used MicroStation, InRoads, and WaterCAD for the site grading, road design, and water network design. The proposed final platform level, total volume of cut and fill, and road levels were calculated using InRoads. Concurrently, the design and simulation of the water network was executed proficiently with WaterCAD. In this way, time spent on these design processes was dramatically reduced without compromising the quality and reliability of the design results. 2008 bE AwARdS oF ExCEllENCE ALSO NOMINATED IN SpEcIAL cATEgOry: SuSTAININg Our SOcIETy SpEc EcIAL cATE Su c cIET 20
