The Year in Infrastructure 2008 - (Page 23) innovation in cadastre and land development Vertical Mapping Resources, Inc. Yavapai County Flood District Yavapai County, Arizona, United States the primary goal of the yavapai county Flood control District mapping project was to provide the county with accurate two-foot topographic mapping and high-resolution color digital orthophotography. Vertical Mapping Resources worked closely with the county to ensure that needs were being met not only for the Flood Control District, but also for all other entities that would be using the final products. The project area mapped to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) standards consisted of the Verde Valley and Big Bug Creek areas of northern Arizona. With MicroStation and InRoads, the firm was able to process the enormous amounts of data to generate two-foot contours on the more than 200-square-mile mountainous area. Using Bentley software saved about 5 to 10 percent of the project’s cost.
