In addition to internal refurbishment, the façade was completely replaced – all while the building was in use. Located in an historical area of Brussels, the Arts-Lux building’s façade had to reflect a modern image of the client’s business. At the same time, ARCS had to ensure a seamless integration within the nearby built environment, respecting its historical character. ARCS wanted the façade to be serious but not austere. Models created in MicroStation demonstrated several alternatives for each type of window and stone tiling. These elements were easily arranged in order to reach the best solution according to the client’s aesthetics and functional standards. 2008 bE AwARdS oF ExCEllENCE ALSO NOMINATED IN SpEcIAL cATEgOry: cOMMuNIcATINg ThrOugh VISuALIzATION SpEc EcIAL cATE u uNIc ugh V uALIz ALIzATION 28
