ENS Project Nishinomiya, Japan the goal of this project was to create an accurate visual representation of a sophisticated, urban skyscraper with a base-isolating structure in Japan to developers and home buyers. The 3D visualization was used to verify the visual harmony with the surrounding buildings through a photomontage and explain the structural members of the building and a base-isolating device. The challenge was how to visually make the sky deck on the rooftop look inviting not only for the developers, but also for the potential home buyers and neighbors. Using MicroStation, the firm created computer graphics of nightscapes to convey the design concept of the sky deck resembling a brilliant tiara set on the top of the building. The application is intended to enhance communication among project team members, reduce liability for designers, increase designers’ value from their client’s perspective, and identify and focus training efforts. Less wasted effort improves both the quality of product and the speed of delivery. This tool reduces waste by increasing understanding between team members. As Bentley’s tools use technology to enhance human performance, DesignFacilitator’s feedback tool also uses technology to enhance designers’ awareness of their project partners’ priorities and preferences in real time. 2008 bE AwARdS oF ExCEllENCE ALSO NOMINATED IN SpEcIAL cATEgOry: cONNEcTINg prOjEcT TEAMS SpEc EcIAL cATE cONNE p OjE TEAMS jEc 46
