The midnight sun can be seen in locations north of the Arctic Circle during summer months and winter days are short and dark. This project designed an ecological adaptation of a single-family home in Finland that adapts to Nordic weather fluctuations. All energy-intensive installations were placed in the center of the house to capitalize on heating and circulation factors. The project team used Bentley Architecture and TriForma to create design options and make better-informed design decisions. The software automatically coordinated design and construction documents, making it easier to locate errors and omissions. This process allowed the project team to measure performance, predict costs, and determine target dates more accurately.
