The Beatrice Inn reopened under new ownership in September, one month after chef Angie
Mar and partners Carla Ruben and Melissa
Merrill Keary purchased the American restaurant from Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter. The
atmosphere at the 96-seat eatery is of an accessible retro lounge (complete with a disco ball)
that has a meat-centric menu, with items such
as milk-braised pork shoulder, sake-aged Kobe
prime rib, and chicken liver pâté. A private dining
room is available with seating for 50 people. (285

where to eat like a rock star
The Vnyl-Vintage New York Lifestyle is a hybrid bar, coffee shop, music store, restaurant, and lounge. The 7,000-square-foot venue, which opened in September in the East
Village, has four levels with mixed seating that holds as many as 250 people. Owned
by James Morrissey-who also owns the East Village bar the Late Late-the venue
has 1970s-style design and decor from Sarah Abdallah of Functional Creative Design,
who was inspired by the edgy glam of the era's rock scene. Entourage star Adrian Grenier
is the music director and selected the vinyl records for sale on the venue's street level,
which also houses the coffee shop. Grenier's Wreckroom Records label hosts monthly
live music performances at the venue. The bar on the main floor seats 38 or holds 110 for
receptions. The drinks menu, overseen by beverage director Gareth Howells, has reinvented versions of classic '70s cocktails. Chef Jordan Andino's California cuisine is an
eclectic mix of American, Asian, and Mexican fare. A lounge on the mezzanine level-
which accommodates 28 seated or 45 standing-overlooks the main bar area and
offers bottle service. The top level has two rooms: Champagne Garden, which seats 20
guests or holds as many as 60 guests fore receptions, and the Black Rose Room, which
seats 50 guests or holds 120 for cocktails. On the lower level, the Lion's Den lounge
seats 16 or holds 40 people for receptions. (100 Third Ave., thevnyl.com)
