These new rooftop venues offer spectacular
views of the city.
1 Mr. Purple opened on the rooftop of the Hotel Indigo Lower East Side in
November 2015. With an atmosphere inspired by an artist's loft, the venue has a
3,000-square-foot interior flanked by two terraces. At 750 square feet, the eastern
terrace can hold smaller gatherings. The west terrace is 5,000 square feet and
can also host events; it has a pool, a bar, and plenty of seating. The entire indooroutdoor space accommodates receptions for 500 guests or seated functions for
100. Menu items include classic and specialty cocktails, flatbreads, burgers, and
salads. (180 Orchard St., mrpurplenyc.com)
Rooftop bar Good Story opened at Arlo Hudson Square hotel in the Hudson
Square neighborhood in September. With views of the Hudson River and
downtown, the indoor-outdoor space offers craft beer, cocktails, and small plates.
Seasonally, the bar changes its atmosphere and decor based on themes such as
"winter wonderland" or "urban luau." The venue has a 921-square-foot interior that
seats 34 in booths or accommodates 90 standing. The 1,733-square-foot outdoor
area seats 88 or holds 175 standing. (231 Hudston St., arlohotels.com)
