Meet on Bowery, a modern take on a small conference center, is the
second downtown location from owners Sara and Marc Schiller, who
opened Meet on Chrystie in 2015. Open since July, the design-conscious
the venue has three rooms: a 2,500-square-foot penthouse loft that can
seat 36 guests in theater- or classroom-style or hold 74 for receptions, a
glass-enclosed breakout room/meditation lounge that seats 10, and a
1,500-square-foot roof garden with seating for 16 people. In addition to
having high-speed Wi-Fi, the venue includes a 65-inch plasma-screen TV
on a cart with HDMI input in the main meeting space, a 55-inch plasmascreen TV on a swinging wall mount with HDMI input in the meditation
lounge, iPod hookup for music and built-in sound, an integrated sound
system, a Polycom conference phone, and VGA inputs. (161 Bowery,

Working it out
These co-working spaces offer
creative places for hosting
meetings and events.

Catering

are conceived, prepared, and
delivered by refugees who have
resettled in New York. Signature

chefs from countries such as Syria,
Iraq, and Nepal-include Lamb
Pulao, Chicken Shawarma, and
Baba Ghanoush, and are delivered
in ready-to-eat compostable
containers. Drop-off delivery is
available for groups of 10 or more
people throughout Manhattan
and parts of Brooklyn and Queens,
as well as service for large groups
from 100 to 1,000 guests, with
a full food and beverage table
or passed service. Menu options
range in price from $15 to $30 per
person, depending on the number
of items. -Michele Laufik

The 1 Farm SoHo, a 1,500-square-foot venue
that doubles as an event and co-working space,
recently underwent renovations that included
the addition of a DJ booth and a quirky tree
house space for meetings. The venue's main
event hall is decorated with custom reclaimed
wood furniture sourced from barns across
the United States, including a 10-person table
and bleachers with room for 10 people. The
venue also offers breakout rooms, a lounge
and catering area, and a projector. The space,
which has a total capacity of 120 standing or 75
seated, offers a variety of rental options that can
accommodate events including social gatherings, private parties, or corporate meetings. (447
