BLITZ Magazine Demo - (Page 101) Off The field WiTh The Big Kid BLITZ: What do you do to chill in the offseason? SA: Spend my time fishing, get some blues music, spending my Saturdays fishing. BLITZ: What’s up with the Sponge Bob thing? Do you catch flak for that? SA: I do, I do. And so what? I just took a liking to him because I can see some of the things I went through. It’s in a cartoon world but I respect Sponge Bob. He has all of these emotions and I’ve seen myself in those situations and he’s just a jolly guy. BLITZ: Word is that after a visit to the San Diego Zoo a few years back you got hooked on penguins, even wanted to get some of your own. SA: I was actually serious about it, and the local reporters got a hold of it and I had a day over at the Camden (NJ) Aquarium and I found out they’re not as friendly as I thought they were. BLITZ: It’s likely safe to assume that since you don’t watch a ton of football that you’re not into fantasy, but what’s your impression of how it’s grown into this significant subculture in the league? SA: It’s huge. Everybody I know is into it almost. Even a good number of teammates are into fantasy football. My friends away from football, that’s all they talk about, and they get so upset. It’s almost like a real life deal for them. BLITZ: What sites do you check out when you’re online? Besides your own site, ShawnAndrews73.com. SA: I’m on MySpace, Facebook. I look for shoes; I go to this one site for guys with larger feet for my size 16s. BLITZ: What’s in your IPod before a game? SA: Last year it was Nelly Furtado “Promiscuous Girl,” Hoobastank, I’m all over the place. BLITZ: What’s your favorite TV show? SA: Sanford and Son, I love it. BLITZ: Favorite movie? SA: Dumb and Dumber BLITZ: What magazines do you read? SA: I check out Ozone, Dub. I’m into cars, looking to see what the hottest wheel out is. BLITZ: Speaking of whips, what are you driving these days? SA: Well, I have an S550 Mercedes, BMW 645, I have an Escalade EXT, Rolls Royce Phantom, Denali and a ’68 Lincoln Continental with the suicide doors. BLITZ: What’s your favorite book or type of books? SA: As a kid, I loved Rikki Tikki Tembo, but lately I like biographies. I have a short attention span. If it’s not someone telling their real story, then I’m not into it. BLITZ: Favorite video game? SA: I’m still trying to beat Super Mario Brothers on the original Nintendo. BLITZ: What was your favorite NFL team as a kid? SA:I always liked to Dolphins, I liked the helmets. BLITZ: Favorite NBA squad? SA: The Bulls. BLITZ: You’re obviously into ink. How do you decide when and what to get next? SA: I was gonna get these redone (showing forearms), I was gonna let the guys from Miami Ink just freestyle on them, just get sleeves. I just came up with the 7 and 3 (on back of forearms), and guys were like ‘What if you get traded and change your number?’ But these are actually Biblical terms, the 7 is the number of completion and the 3 is the Holy Trinity, so it kind of works out that way. BLITZ: What scares Shawn Andrews? SA: Bugs, clowns and spiders. QSIDELINES Full All Out BLITZ 101 http://ShawnAndrews73.com
