2007 Annual Report - (Page 24) WITH 1,000 ATTENDEES AT THE BLOGGER EvENT IN SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, THIS DIRECT-TO-CONSUMER APPROACH PROvED AN EFFICIENT AND SUCCESSFUL WAY TO SPREAD THE WORD. In late spring, the tour went to Rome, and the fall event took place in Stockholm, Sweden. In London on 12 June, it was announced that the Wibree Forum would merge with the Bluetooth SIG to form the new ultra low power Bluetooth Specification. Forty-eight hours after the news launch, the media had massively picked up the news from the press release. A majority of analysts were also pre-briefed the days before the launch and the news coverage was positive overall. In Asia-Pacific, the SIG continued to use the media as a main source of getting information to members, potential members and the marketplace. Interest was particularly high when announcing ultra low power Bluetooth technology and the v2.1+EDR adoption. In the second half of 2007, three key press conferences were held: Taiwan – 24 journalists; Beijing – 55 journalists; Tokyo – 12 journalists. with the purpose of providing Bluetooth product demonstrations to the media in a useful and inviting atmosphere. The events in Taipei and Beijing resulted in significant coverage of the Bluetooth Core Specification v2.1 + EDR, ultra low power Bluetooth technology news announcements, and introduced Bluetooth technology to 45 journalists. Similarly in EMEA, the “Experience More Tour” is a concept where member companies are invited to showcase their latest products to around 10-20 journalists invited by the Bluetooth SIG. This year the tour went to vienna at the annual All Hands Meeting, which focused on the v2.1 + EDR demo and showcase of gadgets including the Nintendo Wii and Lego Mindstorm robots. aNaLySt EvENtS In the fall, there were two in-depth ultra low power Bluetooth analyst summits, held in London and San Francisco. The messages were backed up by presentations from important players in the industry such as CSR, Broadcom, Nordic Semiconductors, Nokia, Bluetooth SIG, Casio, Suunto and O2. The summits were well-received and analysts were heavily engaged in the round table discussions. traDE ShowS & CoNfErENCES While maintaining our long-standing presence at traditional wireless shows around the globe, the SIG also participated in more specialized events in 2007, looking outside traditional 24
