By partnering with Samsung and T-Mobile at the music festival Bumbershoot in Seattle, Washington, the SIG showed music wirelessly as well as pushing performing artists’ cover art as wallpapers to festival goers’ mobile phones. The Bluetooth SIG also partnered with the University of Texas and Qwikker to run a push marketing campaign throughout the entire football season. transSend was rolled out at part of this sponsorship. All told, this push marketing and transSend program resulted in 1,072 visitors to the dedicated contest page on www.bluetooth.com, content pushed to 5,814 devices during games, downloads of transSend averaged 215 per week over the 10 week period and 10 pieces of coverage were secured, including stories in all of the local Austin newspapers as well as a local broadcast story. Further, in cooperation with Japan’s MCPC , the Bluetooth SIG hosted the first dedicated Bluetooth technology session at Wireless Japan in 2007.
