MEDICA, GERMANY At CES in Las vegas, the SIG highlighted finalists of the 2nd annual Best of CES contest on the tradeshow, at the Pepcom media event and at the first member celebration held at this venerable consumer electronics tradeshow mainstay. Further, the Bluetooth SIG and IMS Research jointly organized the first-ever Bluetooth Evolution Conference and Expo in London, UK, a two-day 3GSM, SPAIN The Bluetooth SIG co-sponsored with Semicomm the WPAN Forum in Seoul, Korea. The second annual WPAN Forum is the only forum of its kind in Korea that provides a broad technical and market level analysis on WPAN technologies to Korean manufacturers and product designers. THE BEST OF CES CONTEST HIGHLIGHTS THE MOST Dressed in Motorola Audex jackets, Bluetooth SIG staff welcomed attendees of 3GSM (Barcelona, Spain) in an igloo offering blue drinks and the chance to win hot Bluetooth enabled products donated by member companies. At the show, the Bluetooth branded Lotus Elise circled the exhibition area offering knowledge about Bluetooth technology and cars. 120 journalists stopped by the booth and 14 analysts were briefed. At CeBIT in Germany, focus was on showing a demo of Bluetooth Core Specification v2.1 + EDR which generated considerable coverage in Scandinavia, Belgium and Germany. INNOvATIvE, CONSUMER-FRIENDLY NEW Bluetooth ENABLED PRODUCTS. HERE ARE SCOTT MARTIN AND PAUL LEHMANN OF MOTOROLA – THE OvERALL WINNER OF THE 2007 CONTEST conference covering High speed and ultra low power Bluetooth technology. The conference attracted 140 attendees and 30 speakers from major players in the industry such as Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Casio and O2. The Bluetooth SIG also organized a pavilion at Medica in Germany, with 11 members (A&D Engineering Inc., Bluegiga, connectBlue, Cybercom, Ezurio, Intel, Lesswire, Lintech, NSC, Nonin, Stollman). The show proved to be a good opportunity to showcase members’ products and solutions to customers and potential customers. 26
