2007 Annual Report - (Page 5) [ S PEC I fI Cat I o N a Dva N CE M E Nt S] Bluetooth technology evolution Development seen in roadmap, specifications and working groups roaDMaP Since its initial version in 2004, the Bluetooth Roadmap has continued to serve Bluetooth SIG members’ development efforts. The Bluetooth Roadmap published in 2007 included the stand-alone release of ultra low power Bluetooth technology as well as the incorporation of two high speed alternate MAC/PHYs (AMPs) as hallmark features. These two AMPs support Specification enhancements have focused on improving user experience 802.11 and ultra-wideband radio technologies. High speed Bluetooth technology will improve the user experience for many use cases such as synchronizing, bulk data transfer, and video streaming. SPECIfICatIoNS In June, the Bluetooth SIG announced the introduction of ultra low power Bluetooth technology. With this announcement came the migration of the Wibree Forum into the Bluetooth SIG and accelerated development of the ultra low power Bluetooth Specification. Work on ultra low power Bluetooth technology focuses on applications such as remote displays; sensors for medical, fitness and automation applications; and input devices such as mice and keyboards. ULTRA LOW POWER Bluetooth TECHNOLOGY OPENS UP MARKETS THAT DID NOT PREvIOUSLY ExIST DUE TO SIzE AND POWER CONSTRAINTS.
