Select the “Add Bluetooth device” option on your phone 3. Your phone and headset connect automatically IMProvED SECUrIty For pairing scenarios that require user interaction, eavesdropper protection makes a six-digit passkey stronger than a 16-digit PIN code. Improved security also offers protection that eliminates the chance an undetected “middle man” can intercept information. The Bluetooth SIG released the Bluetooth Core Specification v2.1 + EDR as well as three adopted prototyping specifications and six final adoptions. The Bluetooth Core Specification v2.1 + EDR introduced seven new features, with the hallmark feature Secure Simple Pairing improving how consumers connect devices. Other benefits include enhanced power saving and improved device discovery. Implementers were assisted by three white papers published shortly after the specification’s release. The SIG adopted three prototyping specifications: Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) v1.3, the Medical Device Profile (MDP), and Multi-Channel Adaptation Protocol (MCAP). A2DP v1.3 extends existing available audio codecs and their parameters. The development of MDP and MCAP as prototyping Specifications advanced Bluetooth technology into the health and fitness industry. Six existing specifications were strengthened and adopted to enable qualification in 2007. Nearly all audio/video Specifications were enhanced to accommodate core features such as Adaptive Frequency Hopping, L2CAP Retransmission, and Faster Connect. In addition to these enhancements, the Audio video Remote Control Profile (AvRCP) 1.3 was further improved to allow transferring of metadata content. The Device ID Profile v1.3 was altered to accommodate the v2.1 + EDR feature of Extended Inquiry Response, improving the user experience by enabling device model and revision information to be identified prior to establishing a connection. workING GroUPS Among the expansions of Bluetooth SIG working groups in 2007 were the following: LowEr PowEr CoNSUMPtIoN Reduced power consumption means longer battery life in devices such as mice and keyboards. v2.1 + EDR can increase battery life by up to five times. 6 https://www.bluetooth.org/Technical/Specifications/adopted.htm https://www.bluetooth.org/Technical/Specifications/adopted.htm https://www.bluetooth.org/Technical/Specifications/adopted.htm https://www.bluetooth.org/Technical/Specifications/adopted.htm
