The Meeting of Minds Once again, the greatest minds in Bluetooth wireless technology will come together for three days of meetings, presentations, workshops and networking. Plan now to attend the 2008 All Hands Meeting. Bluetooth SIG, Inc. is gearing up for the 2008 All Hands Meeting, to be held at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix, Ariz., from 31 March to 4 April 2008. You won’t want to miss this event. This year’s theme is “Reaching New Heights: The Power of 10” – a fitting idea for an organization that just reached the 10,000-member milestone, has shipped more than 1 billion Bluetooth enabled products and is celebrating its 10th anniversary. At the All Hands Meeting, members will receive technology updates and have a chance to brainstorm new programs and initiatives. Past meetings have set the direction for core specification development. It’s also a great time to meet Bluetooth SIG staff members and to schedule committee and Working Group face-to-face meetings. Ursula Burrell, project manager for 7 layers Inc., is a Bluetooth Qualification Expert and a member of the Bluetooth Technical Advisory Board and the Bluetooth Test Initiative. She has been to the last two All Hands Meetings and finds them to be very valuable. “Attending brings me up to speed with regard to the latest developments in Bluetooth technology,” she explains. “For me, this meeting serves as a road map until the next meeting.” Tim Reilly, founder and chief technical officer of Stonestreet One Inc., also sees the All Hands Meeting as an ideal place to catch up on the latest developments in Bluetooth technology. “An obvious benefit is to hear the information and updates provided by the differing groups within the Bluetooth SIG and from the Bluetooth SIG staff,” explains Reilly, who has attended the last four meetings. “Having all of that information during one event makes it a very efficient way to communicate to us as members.” Sharing isn’t limited to the purely technical aspects of Bluetooth technology. “The best part of the event is the breakout sessions where you can really dive deeply into some of the relevant issues of the day,” says Fred Zimbric, manager of the Technology Enablers Team for Motorola’s Companion Products division. “It was especially important for me on the 6 | SIGnature | Bluetooth.org http://Bluetooth.org
