Celebrate in 2008 A Yearlong Party for a Decade of Bluetooth Wireless Technology While the idea of Bluetooth technology was born more than a decade ago, the ﬁrst Bluetooth enabled products didn’t appear commercially until the year 2000. Today, some 1.5 billion Bluetooth enabled devices have been shipped, and the Bluetooth SIG has swelled to 10,000 members. “The ﬁrst 10 years of Bluetooth technology development have been amazing to watch,” says Mike Foley, executive director, Bluetooth SIG. “From prototypes in 1998 to more than 1.5 billion devices on the market today, no other consumer technology has grown as fast in such a short period of time.” Since 2000, the Bluetooth SIG has seen a 13-fold increase in the number of products qualiﬁed annually. One such product, the JayBird Bluetooth Stereo Headset, is produced by JayBird Gear LLC. The Salt Lake City, Utah, manufacturer is the 10,000th member of the Bluetooth SIG. JayBird Gear was honored this past January at the 10th anniversary kick-off party at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
