Toshiba has developed a range of Bluetooth enabled prototypes that promise to change the way people interact with their home environments. Using an Bluetooth technology is changing everything “IT Gateway” home terminal, users can control everybut the kitchen sink. And even that may be on the thing from their refrigerators to their HVAC systems. Need to cook dinner but you aren’t sure what drawing boards of innovative manufacturers. supplies you have on hand? Use the terminal’s menu program to call up recipes based on ingredients that have been scanned and stored in your refrigerator. The program can even update you on quantities and product freshness. From there, you can send cooking instructions wirelessly to the microwave so that each meal is perfectly prepared. The terminal’s laundry feature automatically downloads washing instructions for new fabrics and clothing trends. By selecting a setting based on what you need to wash and dry, you can send information about temperature, cycle time and other variables to the machine(s). The IT Gateway, which can be conveniently located in a kitchen or entryway, also controls heating and cooling systems via Bluetooth technology, whether you’re at home or on the road. You can even lock and unlock doors, adjust lighting and monitor package deliveries using a range of Bluetooth wireless adaptors and the terminal. If a networked device malfunctions, it will automatically send an alert to the terminal and, in some cases, diagnose and repair itself. Are you hungry for a high-tech kitchen hub?
