Signature Q4 2008 - (Page 8) In the News | Q4 ’08 What’s the WORD? What are some of the most significant challenges the Bluetooth SIG is facing? Market Watch Internet Devices, 2008 Forecast, Youth Market Strategy Analytics, a leader in Coming Events See and Be Seen Bluetooth Developers’ Conference “With high speed, one of the challenges is ‘the last mile.’ We can send data at high speeds, but there’s no standardization of what’s done with that content once it gets on the device. … We want to make sure people have a full experience when we enable all this high speed technology.” Bob Pascazio Vice President, Engineering Qwikker New York, N.Y. “I still think some Bluetooth enabled products are really expensive. To spread in the world, I think there needs to be a cheaper solution and a way for users to use the products more easily. I think Bluetooth technology will be improved very much in the coming years.” Jeongku Lee Bluetooth Technical Manager Telecommunication Technology Association Seongnam-City, Korea “A guy who knows a lot about making Bluetooth radios might not be thinking about his grandmother using a phone. I’ve been impressed with how the SIG handles that merging of marketing vs. engineering. Keeping those two very different groups working together is going to be key.” Brian Brackenbury Engineering Manager Johnson Controls Holland, Mich. providing strategic and tactical support for business planners around the world, offers the following recent reports at a 25 percent discount to Promoter and Associate members of the Bluetooth SIG. In fact, it’s one of the most unplugged cities in the United States. No wonder the Bluetooth SIG selected the Bay Area as the location of UnPlugFest (UPF) 32. The event, one of three UPFs scheduled for 2009, will be held 2-6 February at the Fairmont San Francisco hotel. UPFs give teams of development engineers a place to test product interoperability in a confidential, neutral environment. Never been to a UPF?
