E Electrolux Floor Care will cease operations at its production and distribution facility in Webster, Iowa. The work will relocate to Juarez, Mexico, and El Paso, Texas, before the end of the year. Approximately 85 employees will lose their jobs. The move comes as part of the Electrolux Floor Care global initiative to consolidate its production and distribution operations. Company officials said the relocation would be done in stages beginning in the second quarter and extending through the fourth quarter of 2009. The company launched several new MERLONI BaILOUt. The European Commission approved a 68 million euro ($89.8 million) loan guarantee to rescue Italian appliance maker Antonio Merloni, which has been hit by rising costs of raw materials and mounting debts. The aid will be paid in the form of a loan guarantee by the Italian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.
