It has been buying LCD panels from a joint venture it has with Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea. With the latest partnership with Sharp, it hopes to ensure a stable panel supply for its TVs. Construction on a new plant began in December, and the plant is expected to be running by March 2010. German compressor manufacturer Bitzer plans to build a $30 million scroll compressor factory in Syracuse, N.Y. Haier’s global revenue Plastics Corp., Prescott, Wis., and Pro Tek Medical have formed a strategic alliance to offer joint medical manufacturing capabilities in Ireland, Great Britain, Europe and the U.S. The two company’s began working together in 2006 and the current partnership will allow Pro Tek to offers new services to its customers such as Phillips’ Metal Injection Molding capability. Pro Tek, based in Sligo, Ireland, is a provider of outsourcing to the medical device industry in Ireland. Phillips LG aND GE SIGN DEaL. LG Electronics of Korea has entered into a cross-licensing agreement with GE Consumer & Industrial, Louisville, Ky. The agreement will allow LG and GE to use each other’s patents for refrigerators and cooking appliances without paying licensing fees. LG and GE have collaborated on cooking appliances since 1999, both in technologies and product development. This new agreement will help the companies strengthen their competitiveness worldwide.
