The Twinbird/Coleman portable refrigerator/freezer uses this transport method to provide low-cost, high-efficiency performance in a recreational consumer product. (See Fig. 4.) Every one of the products thus mentioned use one or more of these methFig. 10. Cryopen cryosurgical device. ods in various combinations for heat lift and rejection to and from the FPSC. With the variety of FPSC models and integration methods available, the cost and performance of each design can be tailored to suit the specific needs of a particular design. < For more information, enter . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 301 Or email: jedwards@globalcooling .com ONE SKU CAN TAKE YOU ANYWHERE Fig. 12. However, the configuration has a disadvantage when compared to a Rankine system because it operates in a single phase. It is, therefore, limited to sensible heat and cannot take advantage of the latent heat properties of the fluid used. On the other hand, this configuration does have one advantage over Rankine in that the Stirling cooler can be serviced independently without requiring evacuation and recharging of the circulating loop. An example of this transport method can be seen in the QM100, manufactured by Global Cooling for electronics cooling in a military application. The most elegant and common solution for secondary heat transport is the thermosiphon, which is a special variant of a heat pipe. Basically, a thermosiphon is nothing more than a section of tubing, filled with a refrigerant. The refrigerant is at a constant density and remains two-phase throughout the entire assembly. Heat is absorbed by a phase-change and is returned to the condenser by buoyancy forces that transfer the absorbed heat into the cooler. The re-condensed liquid is then returned to the cold chamber by gravity in a continuous cycle. This transport method is inexpensive, can be environmentally friendly, and allows for www.applianceDESIGN.com FENWAL Gas Ignition Controls Give You Global Reach Our new 35-6X Series of microprocessor based gas ignition controls is certified for use in all major markets including North America, Europe and Australia.
