China has banned the production of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in line with global agreements to phase out the use of ozone layer-depleting products. Relevant companies must demolish equipment involved in the production of CFC substances by August 15. SCORING GLOBAL WARMING. A new “scorecard,” developed by the nonprofit group Climate Counts, rated 56 corporations across eight business sectors on their commitment to reversing climate change. Consumers can review all the company scores and download a pocket-sized shopping guide at the organization’s web site: www.climatecounts.org.
